From goals to meaningful KPIs

Impact needs to be measurable to be managed efficiently. Climate neutrality claims without a proper carbon footprint as well as qualitative goals without appropriate numbers or research to back claims may well be considered greenwashing.

We support clients to identify relevant social and environmental goals and help attach meaningful KPIs to these goals. In the process, we tend to discover data gaps that we help close with our expertise in data collection, data analysis, and the implementation of related software such as Power Bi.

Impact beyond standard KPIs

Impact measurement is not just confined to the calculation of a carbon footprint. Meaningful KPIs can capture a wide range of other impacts, including but not limited to the well-being of your workforce, the effectiveness of your product or service on target populations, and the extent of success of selected programs.

Measuring Scope 1- 3 emissions

Calculating the CO2e emissions are a frequent starting point for companies on their sustainability and impact journey. This makes sense as it serves as a basis and benchmark for climate reduction initiatives and climate-related programs. CO2e emissions should be measured on a yearly basis to assess progress effectively.

We support clients by identifying relevant data inputs to measure Scope 1-3 emissions according to the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol and more importantly, create specific data inputs where data is unavailable by leveraging statistics or conducting surveys.

Building independent data infrastructure

We differentiate from our competitors in that we are able to generate an underlying data infrastructure that will allow your company to re-calculate the carbon footprint independently from Year 2 onwards.

Ensuring GHG-conform measurement

To ensure that your carbon footprint is GHG-conform, we work with a partner software provider that is specialized in converting financial and operational data into kg of CO2-equivalents. Using software supports our argument above and will turn the re-calculation of carbon emissions from Year 2 into a doable task for any employee.

End-to-end data practices

We support clients to set up data collection, data analysis, and data visualization practices and software to capture any business-relevant data points and KPIs. Data collection flows could come in the form of digital forms, surveys, interviews, web-scrapping, and other sources of raw data. To be made usable, they need to be consolidated and connected in a sensible manner. We are Microsoft-certified Power Bi specialists and so naturally turn to Power Bi for data centralization and data analysis.

Navigating EU Sustainability Regulation

EU regulation such as the Sustainable Finance Disclosures Regulation (SFDR), the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), the Voluntary Sustainability Reporting Standard for non-listed SMEs (VSME) and the associated European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) can be arduous to navigate.

We support clients in meeting their regulatory requirements by collecting the appropriate information, setting up data collection efforts where data gaps are identified, and help write the required qualitative parts in alignment with the guidelines of the European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (EFRAG) who have been tasked by the European Commission to guide the implementation of CSRD and VSME.

Technology-Enabled Compliance

To ensure compliance of standardized EU-reporting, we work with a partner software that helps to partly automize reporting using AI and by offering cross-filling solutions. If you already have a software that you use, we may equally accompany the implementation process.

This is an out-of-the-box service that we can only offer through our elite backgrounds in academic research with a doctorate from the University of Cambridge and research experience at Stanford University.
